Our most valuable teaching tool for paragliding and paramotoring.

Simulate landing flare, directional control, flat and steep turns, brake toggle pressure / travel input, weight shift technique for  steering, height loss techniques, parachute deployment, collapse recovery technique, use of speed system, harness adjustment, torque effect for motor, restarting paramotor plus many more.

 

Paragliding lessons come in 3 pilot training options:

1 Day Introductory Paragliding Course

An introduction to paragliding, designed for safe solo flying under radio supervision.
Duration: 4 hrs
Cost: $NZ 240 (4 training hill flights + 1 high flight).

Your exciting day starts with Flight simulator work and basic ground handling. Your airbourne paragliding experience begins with a number of small flights, gradually launching higher up our training slopes to a maximum of 120 ft.

Once sufficent skills are shown on our training slopes, the budding pilot flies from our main paragliding club site - Taylors Mistake, 650Ft AGL while under the instructor's guidence. All flights are radio supervised.
Should you wish another high flight then its an extra $40 per flight.

What to bring: suitable footwear - tramping boots or runners, loose fitting clothes, water, lunch and plenty of enthusiasm.

PG1 Paragliding Course - Novice Paragliding Pilot's Licence
Duration: 3 days
Cost: $NZ 600 including equipment.

Pilot will show the following skills after their Paragliding course completion:

-Consistent take off, landings and directional control,

-Able to assess weather conditions,

-Able to evaluate launch and landing areas,

-Demonstrate 5 point pre flight check

-Demonstrate a safe attitude to paragliding.

- 10 to 12 flights total.
- Exam and certificate on completion.

Licence valid for 6 months.

PG2 Paragliding Course - International Paragliding Pilot's Licence
Requirement: PG1 rating.
Duration: 6 – 8 days weather permitting
Cost: $1500

The course will provide the following:

- Mininum of 40 flights

- Mininum of 7 different flying sites

- Coastal soaring and thermaling techniques
- Top landings,

- flying with other airborne craft,

- landing approaches,

- competent 360 degree turns,

- slope landings,

- back riser control in flight and landing,

- speed control, reverse launch, height loss and spot landing

  techniques.

- extensive theory with classroom sessions.


The course cost includes equipment hire, free international rating card and logbook. On completion the qualified pilot will receive NZHGPA rating card and certificate.

The course is equivalant to a IPPI 3 rating. The course fee does not include NZHGPA fees.
